Dream Big began in 2014 when Managing Director and Founder, Jessica Kahl, realised the number of women enrolled in her engineering courses were rapidly declining. At this time, Jessica was a second-year university student at CQUniversity studying Civil Engineering. She loved the course content and wondered why there weren’t more opportunities in to showcase the exciting reality of STEM fields in the broader community.

In her role as a CQUniversity Ambassador, Jessica began creating videos that featured university projects, study sessions and the antics of undergraduate engineers. She also started running short, engaging workshops on school visits. After the success of these endeavours, Jessica was inspired to create more opportunities to connect with potential STEAM students, and Dream Big was born.

Jessica is passionate about forging greater links between schools, universities and industries. She believes that "continual communication between engineers, university students and school students is critical to the positive growth of our careers and for the future."

Her vision is shared by Dream Big’s Directors and the wider community of students, educators, industry representatives, institutions, organisations and government.

Stronger together.

Our logo combines the international male and female symbols, representing them together to form a sign of positive growth.

We believe it is crucially important to recognise that a gender-equal society benefits everyone as 100% of talent will grow collaborative, inclusive and innovative teams. Influencing this fundamental change will require men and women to support and empower each other so we can move upwards together (hence the upwards arrow!).
